Welcome to the our monthly installment of “Be Here Now,” giving you the 411 on all the festivals and retreats every month to nurture the body, mind and soul. Since we do these forecasts a month in advance to give you time to plan, be prepared for some serious heat at these festivals come July.
THE RIDE FESTIVAL July 8-9 Telluride CO
What better way to continue celebrating The 4th of July holiday then to escape the heat by heading off to Colorado. Set in scenic Mountain Village, Ride’s 2017 lineup features a wide range of acts from Maggie Koerner to Beck. If you have never been to this part of Colorado, it’s a little remote to get to (Montrose Regional Airport is the closest commercial airport about and hour and a half away), but well worth the trip for not just the festival, but the view.
PITCHFORK July 14-16 Chicago IL
Held in Union Park since 2006, Pitchfork offers a great way to get your festival fix and your food fix as Chicago is one of the best cities in America for foodies. This year’s line up brings us old favorites A Tribe Called Quest as well as LCD Soundsystem. With two airports to choose from, O’Hare and Midway, it’s also a relatively easy destination to fly to from almost anywhere.
WANDERLUST SQUAW VALLEY 2017 July 20-23 Squaw Valley CA
If you have never been to a Wanderlust Festival, GO NOW. Known as the leading Yoga festival organizers on the globe, the team behind Wanderlust ensures every event is a feast for the senses. Yoga, live music, inspirational speakers, DJ’s, top chef’s and winemakers from around the world unite in one of natures most beautiful settings.
FLOAT FEST 2017 July 22-23 San Marcos TX
If you live in Texas, you know one thing about July, IT’S HOT. LIKE REAL HOT. So what better way to beat the heat than at Float Fest. Throw in acts like Passion Pit, MGMT and Houston Favorite Walker Lukens and this is one weekend that is sure to please, you can float the river, camp and heck there’s even a carnival.
You might have noticed we gave you a shorter than usual list this month, in anticipation that you have a Fourth of July Holiday getaway as well. Whether you do or don’t have the chance to take vacation, be sure to keep up with your Yoga practice wherever you go by downloading the My Joy Yoga app today and stay cool out there!
